When one of my best friends died in the hospital after being hit by a car. He survived with major injuries and stuff and they said he probably wouldn’t make it beyond a week. He just kept saying “It is what it is” like it wasn’t a big deal that he wasn’t even 30 yet and he was gonna die. While in the hospital we talked about death and stuff, reincarnation, etc. I asked him if he were to be reincarnated what would he like to be he said a dog.
This. Last year was super hard on me because my sons were 7 and 3, the exact ages my brother and I were when our mom died. Made me realize how truly little we were. I knew that, but obviously it really sank in being at the other end. And also, being the mother, knowing how she must have felt knowing she was dying and leaving us behind when we were so tiny.
