The other factor is that there are overall fewer children. My grandmother had 12 children on my mother’s side and 12 children on my father’s side. My mother and father each had 3 children and I will have 1. National averages are going from average 2 children to less than one child.
I am super curious what life was like in 60s Denmark, with parents spending a combined (squinting) 20 min a day with their children? I’m trying to think back to when I lived with a bunch of unrelated adults and I think many of us still often ended up being around each other for more than 10 min a day without even trying.
