I’m conflicted on this because even though we have great teachers all around the nation still a decent chunk of public education is corrupt and stagnant and I don’t know if just raising pay across the board will solve our issues with the infrastructure. It would have to be implemented with a strict standard on the teachers and a huge reform on the universal curriculum in order for it to work. Then there is the problem of teachers who don’t meet the new standard, lose their job.
I think when people say this stuff it’s because they are saying we should prioritize paying pivotal members of society correctly first, then worry about minimum wage. Teachers, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, cops, people like that. We should worry about paying them more since their jobs are important to the function of society before we worry about paying someone who works a minimum wage job a higher wage.
